2021 Starz C-Band Transition FAQ's
What satellites and transponders will Starz be using after the 5G transition?
As part of the 5G C-Band transition, Starz will migrate all channels from our four existing transponders to two new transponders.
• Programs on G13/9 and G13/15 will move to G13/17.
• Programs on G15/8 and G15/14 will move to G15/20.
To continue offering all Starz, Starz Encore, and Plex channels via satellite, it is necessary for Starz to update our distribution compression format to HEVC. The satellite receiver equipment provided by Starz and Intelsat will transcode the channels to each affiliate’s output requirements.
Will I be getting new receivers for my Starz services?
Starz and Intelsat are working with CommScope (ARRIS) to deliver satellite receivers to affiliate distribution partner headend locations. The affiliate will be responsible for installing and connecting the new satellite receivers in a timely manner. Also, please be aware that many affiliates will continue to use existing satellite receivers.
Starz Affiliate Support will be reaching out to affiliates that receive our satellite signals to verify site information (address, contacts, receivers, etc.), and Intelsat may contact each affiliate site to verify downlink capabilities.

Starz will support the following CommScope receiver models after the 5G transition.
